Jamestrong Packaging is set to shift its New Zealand operation from Hamilton to Hastings,

AsiaPacificPackaging, 24 Mar5ch 2016 - Jamestrong Packaging is set to shift its New Zealand operation from Hamilton to Hastings.  

Staff reductions were not planned, but managing director, John Bigley says staff who wish to stay with the company will have to relocate to Hastings, which is 250 kilometers away.

More than 30 staff employed at the Hamilton factory were informed of the changes on Monday, some have worked at the factory for 17 years.

Jamestrong Packaging is one of the largest producers of aerosol and food cans in the Asia Pacific with operations throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Asia Pacific Packaging understands the company wants to move its New Zealand factory after a review of its business operations.

Bigley will be consulting with staff over the next few weeks and the factory will close by the end of the year if it is given the go ahead. Jamestrong Packaging has made no plans to shift its Australian operations.

The company is owned by Shanghai Yuanlong Investment Co, and has been in operation since 1949 when it was known as Containers Ltd.
