And when you hear that, according to the World Bank, New Zealand produces the largest yield-per-hectare of wheat in the Western world (four times that of Australia), it's no surprise bread is an important part of our identity.

Except that nowadays New Zealand bread is made mostly with Australian wheat in factories owned by foreign-owned firms. . . .
