OPINION: The character of an organisation will usually reflect the character of the person or people leading it. Fletcher Building is no exception writes Bruce Cotterill for Stuff.

I never met the recently departed chief executive, but a lot of people I know did. From my vantage point, particularly as a supplier to the company, he led an organisation that progressively became less likeable under his leadership.

I have met former Chairman Sir Ralph Norris a number of times. He's a good man.

He's intelligent, articulate, well-spoken and doesn't raise his voice – at least not in my experience – and he has a gentlemanly approach to the way he conducts himself.
