Andritz buys Swedish firm Franssons Recycling Machines
International technology group Andritz has purchased technology and intellectual property assets from Swedish firm Franssons Recycling Machines. Based in Sundsvall, Franssons Recycling manufactures and produces machinery for recycling plastic, paper, and cardboard. The firm’s machinery will also be used for treating waste, wood and biomass. Andritz will integrate Franssons’ products and solutions in its recycling product group, which is part of the pulping and fiber systems division. Atlas Copco (IW 1000/325), the world’s largest maker of industrial compressors, plans to split into two listed companies in a move that will see the departure of its longstanding Chief Executive Officer Ronnie Leten and could spark takeover interest. The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield has developed what is believed to be the world’s first carbon composite reconfigurable machine-tool.
