Elon Musk's Boring Company receives go-ahead to start DC to NYC Hyperloop tunnel

Feb 22, 2018  -  Entrepreneur Elon Musk has been given written permission to begin digging a transportation tunnel in Washington DC, which could eventually facilitate a 29-minute journey between the capital and New York City.  Musk's infrastructure firm The Boring Company now has the paperwork to start work on a Hyperloop transport link in the US Northeast, after receiving verbal government approval last summer.

Australasian Fleet Safety Awards 2018 open for entries

Feb 19, 2018  -  Brake, the road safety charity has announced the details of its fourth annual Australasian Fleet Safety Awards. The charity is inviting awards entries from fleet operators and suppliers working to reduce the number of road crashes involving at-work drivers. The deadline for entering is Friday 15 June 2018 and the winners will be announced on Thursday 11 October at a reception in Auckland.

Stantec Signs Letter of Intent to Acquire TDG

Feb 14, 2018  -  Global design firm Stantec is strengthening its New Zealand and Australia-based capabilities with the planned acquisition of Wellington, New Zealand-based consulting transportation engineering firm, Traffic Design Group (TDG). With more than 80 team members, TDG has offices located in markets throughout New Zealand, including Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Napier, Wellington, Nelson, and Christchurch. The firm also has an office in Sydney, Australia. The transaction is expected to close April 1.

Jan 24, 2018  - The electric vehicle race shows no signs of slowing, with Swedish truck manufacturer, Volvo Trucks, announcing it will start selling electric trucks as early as 2019.  According to Volvo Trucks, the first units will be medium-duty vehicles that will be placed into fleets in European urban environments.
