Fonterra confirms $165m manufacturing expansion, jobs boost

Jan 26, 2018 - The world’s largest exporter of dairy products, Fonterra, has announced a $165 million investment in manufacturing plant upgrades in Victoria and Tasmania.  Minister for Industry and Employment Ben Carroll said the investment included $125 million to double the size of Fonterra’s primary cheese plant at Stanhope, which will create around 36 ongoing local jobs.

Jan 23, 2018  -  A $45 million new food spray dryer is being planned for Food Waikato at Waikato Innovation Park, to cope with an increase in demand from the sheep milk industry.  The existing open access development spray dryer, which came online just five years ago, is already at capacity, says Waikato Innovation Park CEO Stuart Gordon.

Dozens to lose jobs as Christchurch card plant set to close

Jan 18, 2018  -  About 50 workers are set to lose their jobs after a prominent plastic card manufacturer has proposed moving operations to Australia. ABCorp have informed workers of their intention to close their plastic card manufacturing plant in Christchurch by as early as 30 March, after a three-week consultation process.
