Autex Industries to become joint owners of Warriors

One of the original sponsors of rugby league in New Zealand will be joint owners of the Warriors, alongside the Carlaw Park Heritage Trust. As revealed in the Herald on Sunday yesterday, Eric Watson has agreed to sell the NRL club to the trust, which is effectively an arm of the Auckland Rugby League.

Avanti bike founders cut remaining ties with the business, selling to Scott Sports

Apr 24 - The Struthers family, which founded the Avanti bicycle brand and built Sheppard Industries into the largest cycling company in Australasia, has cut its final ties to the business, selling its remaining shareholding to a Switzerland-based company, Scott Sports.  The family sold most of its shareholding in the business to Scott Sports in 2015, and exited its remaining holding in December for an undisclosed sum. Kim Struthers, the son of founder John Struthers, stepped down as New Zealand country manager last month and the Struthers family no longer has any connection with the business.

But the 14 players could be Ghana's rugby stars of the future.  One of them, Maimuna Dawda, used to watch matches on television before she got the chance to hold the oval ball for herself in 2016. Now, the 14-year-old plays three games of short-format seven-a-side every week at the Kanda Cluster of Schools that she attends in the capital, Accra.
