Departing the vibrant city of Cape Town, experience the pretty Cape Winelands before heading to the picturesque town of Swellendam and then onto a superb country estate in Plettenberg Bay. Finish with two amazing days on safari staying at the Great Fish River Lodge, in the malaria-free Kwandwe Game Reserve. Itinerary:
Day 1: Cape Town > Winelands Personal meet and greet on arrival then half day Winelands tour including wine tasting. Overnight in Franschhoek in a boutique hotel.
Day 2: Winelands > Swellendam Scenic drive of approximately 3 hours plus stops en route to Swellendam.
Day 3: Swellendam > Plettenberg Bay Continue the drive along the pretty Garden Route with stops en route. Enjoy two nights at a gorgeous country lodge.
Day 4: Plettenberg Bay At leisure.
Day 5: Plettenberg Bay > Kwandwe Game Reserve After a full day travelling to the Eastern Cape, arrive at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. Stay three nights at the luxurious Great Fish River Lodge.
Days 6 & 7: Arrive Kwandwe Game Reserve Two exciting days on safari with game drives in open 4x4 vehicles with professional rangers, nature walks and gorgeous pan-African cuisine. Morning drives begin as dawn breaks and guests have the opportunity to see the predators winding up their nocturnal hunts and settling in for the day. Many animals take advantage of the cool morning hours to graze before the heat of the day. In the late afternoon wildlife can often be spotted coming down to the river to drink. Night drives produce some unusual sightings, including aardvark, aardwolf, bat-eared fox and porcupine.
Day 8: Kwandwe > Port Elizabeth Transfer or drive to Port Elizabeth Airport.
