Feb 08, 2018  - Green MP Julie Anne Genter announced today that she will put her name forward to be the next female co-leader of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand.

”I believe the Green Party must offer a bold alternative vision for the future if we are to live in a society where no one is left behind and the injustice of climate change is not imposed on future generations,” said Ms Genter.“I am putting my name forward to be co-leader because I believe I have the skills to articulate this vision and bring New Zealanders along with us.“As co-leader I will ensure the Green Party remains Parliament’s strongest voice against the injustice and exploitation of both our environment and our people.“This means defending nature. Not simply in pursuit of the tourist dollar, but to protect its intrinsic value.“It means fixing our economic system that distributes wealth unfairly and deprives too many people of their dignity and basic needs.“Under my co-leadership it will be crystal clear to all that the Green Party is a force to be reckoned with, that will not be pushed around or taken for granted by anyone.“I believe that the opportunity of being both co-leader and a minister will raise the profile of our Green Party message, values and ideas to a much wider group of New Zealanders.“After ten years as a Green Party activist, six years as an MP, and as one of our first Green ministers, I ask that members now consider me for co-leader,” said Ms Genter.
