Avalon Airport to go international later this year

Avalon Airport to go international later this year

Feb 05, 2018  -  Avalon Airport is going international. AirAsia will move its Melbourne operations there from Melbourne Airport later this year and Avalon Airport expects to move about 500,000 international passengers in its first year of operation.  AirAsia X Malaysia will operate twice daily flights as the first international carrier at the airport. The carrier and the airport say this will make long-haul flying affordable for Melbourne and the Victorian region, and improve access to more than 130 destinations in Asia and beyond.

Ryanair pledges ‘plastic-free’ flights

Feb 03, 2018  -  Europe’s largest airline by passenger numbers has vowed to eliminate use of nonrecyclable plastics on aircraft and at head offices and bases. It will also introduce a voluntary carbon offset payment for customers when booking.  The low-cost carrier said it planned to switch to biodegradable cups, wooden cutlery and paper packaging onboard, and make its head offices, bases and operations plastic free.

Jan 24, 2018  -  Before the tiny house movement was even a thing, Japan had already taken downsizing to the extreme with its capsule hotels, which squeeze lots of extremely small hotel rooms together under one roof. Busiest month ever at Christchurch Airport

Busiest month ever at Christchurch Airport

Jan 12, 2018  -  Statistics reveal the number of passengers through the terminal was the highest number for any month on record.  Chief Aeronautical and Commercial Officer Justin Watson says 638,043 passengers used the terminal during December, up 4.8% on the previous December. "This equates to more than the entire population of Canterbury and the West Coast through the terminal during the past month alone," he says.
