A very successful businessman Les back in the sixties designed and took to market the Woolaway Woolshed a leader in its field and still well respected in the market today. The name Woolaway came straight from the shed floor, a cry of the rousies.
Raised in Wairoa in a family of 8 boys Les learnt very quickly that it was the experiences of life not school that would be his mentor and guide threw life. From the first few pays Les received he saved to buy his mother a biycycle a sign of how he was to be through life, generous, caring but still a hard taskmaster. A self-made man he was always looking for ways to improve things. A good example of this was the design and implementation in his woolsheds of the lifting-swinging type gate. (pictured)
There are many examples of Les's craftmenship around today, not least the shed that friends & family got to farewell him in.
It was a privilege to have known him.
