Zespri's Orchard Tours of New Zealand begin for 2018

Feb 22, 2018  -  An influx of Italian Zespri kiwifruit growers this week will finish up their tour of orchards around New Zealand. The 20 visitors are the first in a series of ‘technical tour’ groups that will bring 120 people from Korea, Japan, China, France and Italy to New Zealand orchards this year.

PMA A-NZ brings together New Zealand’s industry for two special events

Feb 21, 2018  -  Over two days, the Produce Marketing Association Australia-New Zealand (PMA A-NZ) is hosting two events for the fresh produce and floral industry in Auckland, New Zealand.  The first event is the PMA A-NZ Fresh Forum & Networking Drinks to take place at La Cigale, The French Market on 28 February. This forum is open to all industry members and is an opportunity to tackle big industry topics through robust discussion between members, guests and the PMA A-NZ board.

They said the launch was met with remarkable success due to customized programs, regional market development managers, and strong consumer and retail marketing campaigns. Within the kiwifruit category, Golden kiwifruit drove the category dollar gain with sales increasing 125 percent for the 52-weeks ending 12/03/17. Zespri’s SunGold Kiwifruit led the growth and represents 80 percent of the Golden kiwifruit category with 27.8m lbs. sold to establish a new sales record.

Green light for China opens up new export opportunities for leading supply group

TAURANGA: February 1, 2018: Leading avocado export supply group AVOCO has welcomed this week’s announcement that New Zealand market access to China has been granted for the 2018-19 export season. AVOCO exports New Zealand avocados to various Asian markets under its AVANZA brand and the company has been preparing for access to China for some time. Preliminary planning has included the development of a market-specific brand name designed to be the exemplar brand from New Zealand for China.

New Zealand's avocados officially allowed to enter China

Jan 31, 2018  -  On January 29, the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced that New Zealand avocado has been granted official market access to China.Avocado exports are allowed from three production sides, including Youngs Hill Orchard, Springfield Orchard and Tarlena.....
