Understanding low inflation in New Zealand

September quarter inflation, due for release next Tuesday, is expected to be low, Assistant Governor John McDermott said in a speech to the Bay of Plenty Employers and Manufacturers Association in Rotorua today. Dr McDermott said that inflation is expected to rebound in the December quarter and be at the bottom of the target range. FUTEK has introduced a new range of digitally configurable strain gauge amplifiers designed to provide both analogue and digital outputs via USB. Back to Growth in August

The latest New Zealand Manufacturers and Exporters Association (NZMEA) Survey of Business Conditions completed during September 2016, shows total sales in August 2016 increased 8.65% (year on year export sales increased by 11.32% with domestic sales increasing by 4.49%) on August 2015. In the 3 months to August, export sales decreased an average of 3.2%, and domestic sales decreased 0.6% on average. The NZMEA survey sample this month covered NZ$314m in annualised sales, with an export content of 62%. Net confidence rose to 22, up from 6 in July. Last Ford ever to be made this morning, factories to shut

Ford closure marks an end but also the beginning of a new era.  Ford Australia will produce its last car ever this morning, with pictures of “The Last Falcon Sedan” appearing on a Ford Facebook fan page. Nine.com.au reports that the car is expected to be finished at 10 am at Broadmeadows, as the company ends its Australian manufacturing operations today. Auckland Airport signs agreement with China’s leading online payment provider

Air New Zealand to introduce inflight wifi

Air New Zealand will begin rolling out inflight wifi on its jet services in 2017. Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon today announced at a media and travel trade event in Sydney that flights between Australia and New Zealand would be the first to receive connectivity. “Air New Zealand is in the final stages of commercial negotiations with Inmarsat and Panasonic Avionics with internet connectivity to be supplied by Inmarsat’s new global GX satellite constellation and integrated with Air New Zealand’s in-cabin Panasonic Avionics technology.
