13 New Zealand companies to exhibit at Gulfood

GDN Online, 17 February 2016 - A total of 13 companies from New Zealand will exhibit at Gulfood 2016, to be held next week, in Dubai, UAE.

Gulfood 2016, the latest edition of the world’s largest annual food and hospitality show, will take place from February 21 to 25, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

As the largest dairy exporter in the world, New Zealand’s pavilion at the event will host a dedicated dairy lounge on the second floor, providing visitors with an opportunity to network with a number of New Zealand’s leading dairy exporters, including BODCO, Fonterra Co-operative Group, Goodman Fielder and Open Country Dairy, said a statement.

Other key industries exhibiting on the New Zealand pavilion include beef and lamb, venison, poultry, fruit, and bakery, it added.

A tasting kitchen run by Chef Tomas Reger is a focal point of the pavilion and will allow Gulfood visitors to sample some of New Zealand’s finest produce from its most prestigious producers and suppliers, it said.

Companies exhibiting at the New Zealand pavilion include ANZCO Foods Ltd, Firstlight Foods, Garra International Ltd, GreenMount Foods Ltd, Rockit Trading Company, Silver Fern Farms, Tegel Foods Ltd, Van Dyck Fine Foods Ltd and Yarrows the Bakers (2011) Ltd.

New Zealand is one of the world’s leading food providers, exporting over 80 per cent of the food produced. It is the largest exporter of dairy products and lamb and a major supplier of beef, kiwifruit, apples and seafood to international markets. New Zealand has seen a 73 per cent increase in the export of food and beverage products between 2006 and 2015, rising from $10.5 billion to $18.25 billion.

Haylon Smith, New Zealand trade commissioner – Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, said: “The GCC region is one of New Zealand’s most important trading partners, and is a market that not only continues to show strong growth, but is increasingly seen as a hub for New Zealand companies to rest of the region.”

“Coming back to Gulfood for the first time in ten years, we are recognising the importance of the show for the wider region, to exhibit the high-end food and beverage offering that New Zealand produces,” he added. –
