Sir Jerry said, “There are many threads to the UK – NZ relationship as the two countries share similar economic, cultural, academic and social practices. The New Zealand High Commission is committed to promoting bi-lateral relationships, which if successful will provide great advantages for NZ businesses. Whilst the implications of Brexit are still unclear we are looking forward to future opportunities. This launch strengthens New Zealand’s presence in the UK, Hamilton Jet was established in 1979 and the company have ensured, with all its experience in design and build, that its water jet propulsion engines have progressed over the years to become first class. This new HTX30 confirms Hamilton Jet’s position at the forefront of water jet propulsion in the world.”
Ben Reed, General Manager, Hamilton Jet, continued, “I am very proud to be representing Hamilton Jet at the pinnacle of the industry. We are launching two new products here at Seawork, the HTX 30 waterjet and the AVX Advanced Vessel Control System, which take the company forward with advances in autonomy and digital technology. The development of the HTX30 waterjet addresses issues raised to us by boat builders and as a result is far easier to install. The HTX30 offers a 7% increase in high speed efficiency, with greater thrust, lower fuel burn and a capability of 55kts, along with 19% more bollard pull and up to 2kts improvement in minimum speed.”
This first of a new generation of waterjets, the HTX30 has undergone years of research, hydrodynamic design and testing delivering much stronger performance up to 570kW for use in patrol and commercial workboats up to 18m in overall length.
The advanced vessel control system HamiltonJet are launching is called AVX. The system is fully integrated with HamiltonJet waterjets and has class leading dual redundancy for improved vessel system availability. The AVX system has been successfully tested in a number of Search & Rescue boats for the past 2 years with proven results.
The AVX system has compact modules for optimum bridge layout, flexible installation, compact station display unit with colour screen for improved status, ergonomics, and safety information.
AVX also has the JETanchor positioning system option available, featuring Station Keeping and Virtual anchor functionality. Other advanced control options include interfaces for remote control for third party control systems (USVs), and the system has been designed to be autonomous systems ready.
