Campervan maker expands Hamilton factory

Action Manufacturing has received Overseas Investment Office approval to lease land near Hamilton to expand its campervan manufacturing business.

The company is leasing 1.5 hectares of land at Te Rapa. It will move its Hamilton campervan factory to the new site so it can expand the business to meet increasing export demand from Australia.

Action Manufacturing is New Zealand’s largest manufacturer of campervans, motorhomes, recreational vehicles and other specialist vehicles, such as ambulances. It has another factory in Auckland.

Benefits to New Zealand from this investment include additional jobs and increased exports, both arising from the new larger premises.

The Overseas Investment Office approved the lease for the land, which is considered sensitive because it is more than 0.4 hectares and adjoins a recreation reserve of more than 70 hectares.
