New Zealand now has the highest Melanoma rate in the world

New Zealand now has the highest melanoma rate in world.

Auckland, Solar Gard, 31 March 2016 - New Zealand now has the world's highest rate of the deadliest form of skin cancer and it's still getting worse, a study has found.

Researchers at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research in Brisbane say more government funding for prevention may be needed after finding New Zealand has now passed Australia for the highest per-capita rate of invasive melanoma.

"This is a subject that employers should familearise themselves with,"  says Ross Eathorne managing director of SWF  Distrubtion Ltd, New Zealand distributors for the Saint-Gorbain  Solar Gard window film range of products.  "Most people do not realise their skin is not fully protected when they are behind glass," Ross said. "UV-protective film is an effective way to reduce UV exposure in your home, office or vehicle.  It takes on added importance with the introduction of the new Health & Safety Act where employers will be required to show that they have taken adeqete steps to protect their employees.  One of the things we want to highlight is that standard glass only stops UVB not UVA. where Solar Gard window film stops nearly 99% of both UVA and UVB."

More information on the Solar Gard office, home and vehicle window film can be found here

And for those who are regularly behind the wheel of a vehicle here is an article about a truckie in the United States who over his 28 years behind the wheel accumulated significant exposure  to UVA rays resulting in damaged skin on the left side of his face.
