The Anderson's Back gate The Anderson's Back gate

|| A back gate that opens up an environmental vista for the Andersons who having lived on the fringe of Napier over the past 10 years  have taken the time and the interest to observe the number of native and introduced birds living in the immediate area of their back gate.

Recently we have had Royal crested spoon bills feeding in the drain behind our home as well as native white heron’s and all at our back gate. A group of residents have submitted a proposal to the local council to develop a barren drain way with trees and riparian planting to attract more birds and to create a planted corridor to complement the Hawkes Bay Cape to City project.

We often wonder how many other folks take the time to stop, look and listen to the birds outside their gate, especially at the arrival of spring?
