The SBT Group purchase of Liqueo earlier this year from Christchurch based Scales has assisted Scales search for new agri-businesses which better match its remaining portfolio.
SBT Group has interests in rendering and animal byproducts. It said it's well positioned to grow Liqueo's tallow storage in Hawke's Bay and Timaru, and its new long-term edible storage contract in the South Canterbury town. It has a total of 58 tanks, some of food grade standard and a total capacity of 21,000 tonnes, storing edible and non-edible tallow, oils and other liquid products. Liqueo also provides bleaching, refining and reprocessing services in Timaru and Napier.
