Reflecting Fuji Xerox’s commitment to support the best and brightest young people to succeed in tertiary education and to have fulfilling careers, students will be awarded $30,000 over three years towards tuition fees and living costs.

This commitment builds on the company’s existing support of a Fuji Xerox Masters Scholarship in Computer Science.

The Fuji Xerox Future Leaders Scholarships will be available to students enrolling on an undergraduate course run by Victoria Business School, or in a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Information Systems; a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Software Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering or Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering; or a Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science.

The scholarships will provide both financial and holistic support, including access to mentors and health and wellbeing services, to ensure recipients can focus on their studies and make the most of extra-curricular opportunities throughout their university experience.

They will be awarded to young people who demonstrate leadership qualities and are intending to follow a career in their chosen field of study.

The University recently launched ‘Great Futures’, a programme aiming to more than double the University’s philanthropic scholarship funds by 2020. The Fuji Xerox Future Leader Scholarships are a significant milestone towards this goal, says the executive director of Victoria University of Wellington’s Development Office, Patricia Danver.

“Scholarships are not just a gift, they’re an investment in the future. These scholarships will enable students to realise their potential, enter a successful career, and give back to society.”

Fuji Xerox Managing Director Peter Thomas says: “At Fuji Xerox, we have a passion for supporting the next generation of New Zealanders and we are delighted to extend our partnership with Victoria University of Wellington through the Fuji Xerox Future Leaders Scholarship programme.

Fuji Xerox has also made a donation to Te Rōpū Āwhina, a Victoria University of Wellington programme that aims to increase Māori and Pasifika engagement with science. Āwhina provides support and peer mentoring on campus for Māori and Pasifika students who are taking courses in Science, Engineering, Architecture and Design (SEAD). It also runs a national outreach programme to engage school-age children in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
