The airline’s chief executive Somas Appavou told AirlineRatings.com of the airline’s aim of connecting Asia, the world’s fastest-growing market for airline traffic, and Africa, which has the world’s fastest-growing population.
Air Mauritius currently has two new A350-900s, flying daily routes from Mauritius to Johannesburg, and from Mauritius to Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
The airline has four more A350s on order over the next five years. It is also due to receive two A330-900neos later this year, placing it among the world’s first operators worldwide. It is targeting Asian cities with those, as well as Perth and Geneva.
Appavou said increasing numbers of Australians were discovering Mauritius and many South Africans were choosing to meet family members living in Australia to holiday together halfway between the two – in Mauritius.

Air Mauritius is the fourth largest carrier in sub-Saharan Africa and serves Singapore, Hong Kong and four mainland Chinese cities plus Hong Kong, as well as Kuala Lumpur.
