Changes to ACC levies

The proposal to decrease ACC levies by 6.9% for employers is one the EMA encourages the Minister to keep.

This was one of the recommendations in the 2018 Levy Consultation proposal released yesterday.

"We wholeheartedly believe this aspect of the proposal should stay, as it reflects the concerted effort made by employers to improve health and safety in the workplace," says Kim Campbell, CEO, EMA."I would expect employers to benefit from their efforts, and I think this part of the proposal reflects that."

The Consultation document is open for feedback until October 25 and the EMA encourages business owners of all sizes to participate in this process. It will be generating its own submission on behalf of its members.

"The other side of this debate I think, is for business to encourage ACC to actively manage its cost controls.

"With all the work that is being done around health and safety, and reducing workplace injuries, I think business should be commended for their efforts," says Mr Campbell.
