Hawkes Bay’s Port of Napier is Hub to Australasia’s most Advanced Container Park

Coincides with installation of new container cranes.

Hawkes Bay is the site of Australasia’s most advanced and automated shipping container park.

The new container handling park near the Port of Napier will eventually feature full automation. Siemens has been selected to install the robotic and sensor automation which will mean that the gigantic sea containers will require a minimum of human intervention.New Zealand Logistics is taking the lead in this new project which coincides with the Port of Napier having installed new container cranes. The objective of this new level of automation is to have all materials handling directed from a central control room.Chinese investment is known to be involved and weighs heavily on the pending merger of COSCO and China National Line.
