Victoria University of Wellington Vice-Chancellor reappointed

Professor Grant Guilford has been reappointed for a second term as Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington.

Chancellor Neil Paviour-Smith says the University Council is delighted that Professor Guilford will continue to lead the University and implement its ambitious strategic plan.He says Professor Guilford brings the ideal mix of leadership, experience and knowledge to continue the University’s focus on providing New Zealand’s best student experience and enhancing its standing as New Zealand’s first-ranked university for research quality.Professor Guilford’s current appointment extends through to the end of February 2019 and Mr Paviour-Smith says the early announcement of a reappointment is testament to the Council’s confidence in the Vice-Chancellor.Professor Guilford says it is a privilege to lead an institution of the calibre of Victoria University of Wellington and he is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.“The University is well on its way to becoming one of the world’s great universities. At the heart of this success is our position as New Zealand’s globally ranked capital city university.“Being an integral part of a globally minded capital provides an opportunity to enrich national culture, lead thinking on major societal issues and contribute to the resolution of global challenges. This perspective reinforces our close relationship with Wellington—a relationship we are determined to build upon over the coming years.”Professor Guilford has been reappointed Vice-Chancellor until the end of 2022.
