Government Agencies Involved in Funding Hillary Clinton Visit to Auckland in May

February 23, 2018  -  WHAT HAPPENED?   New Zealand State fervour over Hillary Clinton is once again evident with a clutch of governmental and therefore publicly funded institutions involved with her pending visit to Auckland in May.

These include Trade and Enterprise, Auckland University and the Auckland-based Icehouse, a publicly-funded incubator and start-up depot for nurturing entrepreneurs and their inventions.

Trade & Industry as part of the wider Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade already took part in persuading the government to investment large sums of public money in the Clinton family charitable foundation.

MFAT appears to have been convinced that Mrs Clinton would win the last United States presidential election.

Mrs Clinton’s stated objective for her Auckland rally is that it is in support of her book What Happened which centres on her unsuccessful run for the presidency.

Her business qualifications by themselves do not immediately appear to be of the type that require the level of public sponsorship indicated by the involvement of these agencies.

For example her role during her husband Bill Clinton’s presidency in managing the White House travel office was widely criticised at the time and it led to substantial staff departures.

Her involvement in property development was similarly sketchy and resulted in the various inquiries related to what became known as the Whitewater affair.

Mrs Clinton however was personally appointed in 1986 by its founder Sam Walton to become a main board director on Arkansas based Wal-Mart while her husband Bill was state governor.

Her six years on the board of the then unchallenged largest retailer in the world coincided with the company’s concerted fight against labor unions seeking to represent store workers.
